About Jezweb

We've been building websites for Newcastle since 2005.

HighStreet is Jezweb's small-business website service. Same Newcastle team, same phone number, same patient approach. Just tuned for a specific kind of customer.

Our story, short version

Twenty years, 1,500 websites, one phone number.

Jezweb started in January 2005, run by Jeremy (Jez) Dawes out of Newcastle. The name was meant to be a placeholder. It stuck.

Two decades later, we host around 1,500 websites and look after about 3,000 client relationships. Mostly Newcastle and the Hunter, some Sydney, some further afield. Almost all of them are small and medium businesses, the kind of operation you can talk to the owner of directly.

We've kept the same phone number the whole time. We still pick it up.

In 2024 we started using AI seriously in our builds. Not as a gimmick, not as a shortcut, but as a way to deliver a solid website for a fraction of the old cost. That's what HighStreet is: our small-business tier, built on the same infrastructure we use for everyone else, with the AI doing the boring parts so our humans can do the judgement parts.

Jezweb the agency still builds $3,000-$25,000 custom WordPress and web-app builds for clients who need that. HighStreet is specifically for shopkeepers, tradies, and local service businesses who want a good site without the project-management overhead.

Why we made HighStreet

Most shopkeepers don't want to think about their website.

The running-a-shop job is already a big one. So when someone asks Karen at BNI "do you know a web person for my cafe?", they don't want to be handed a six-week custom build process with revision rounds.

They want a professional website for a fair price, without the project management. They want someone to call on launch day if something looks off. They want to edit their hours from their phone when they change, not log in to a CMS.

That's what HighStreet is. The price says we built it efficiently. The process says we built it carefully. The phone number says we're still here when you need us.

The Jezweb team

The humans behind the sites.

Real people, Newcastle-based, every one. Illustrations rather than corporate headshots because we never got around to proper photos and honestly, this is more fun.
